On Wednesday May 9, 2012 The President of The Baja California State Board of Real Estate Professionals (CEPIBC), Lic. Alfredo de La Lama Paullada met with the Members of AMPI San Felipe to discuss the latest news regarding the new law to regulate Real Estate/Sales Agents in Baja. Lic. Alfredo shared that Baja California was the third state to implement the new requirements, the other states are Sonora, Vera Cruz, and recently Mexico City. CEPIBC will be working in conjunction with The U.S. Consulate and The Secretary of Tourism to help promote the "Registered Agent" Brand. Agents who wish to participate in the "Registered Agent" Brand have to meet the following qualifications:
1: Provide Valid FM3 and RFC (Tax I.D. Number)
2: Provide No Criminal Record background check
3: Take and Pass required courses offered through UABC regarding real estate in Baja California
4: Register their Listing Agreement with Profeco, The Mexican Office of Consumer Affairs
5: Register with RPPC (Public Registry)
and
6: Every 2 years pass Continuing Education Courses through UABC
The "Registered Agent" brand is modeled after the "R" Realtor logo used by The U.S. National Association of Realtors. The purpose is to help provide confidence to those selling or purchasing property in Baja California by promoting Agents who have met the qualifications. CEPIBC is working with Profeco to standardize a Listing Agreement that will be utilized throughout Northern Baja, approval is expected in the next 15-20 days. Once this is completed and translated into English, the Members of AMPI San Felipe who have met the requirements noted above will be able to move forward with registering in The RPPC (Public Registry).
Members of AMPI San Felipe have agreed to abide by The Code of Ethics instituted by AMPI National to protect Buyers and Sellers throughout their real estate process.
